Muckle Flugga Wins our First Award January 26 2015

Attendance at our first ever trade show resulted in our first ever award. What a great start to the year! Our Muckle Flugga Piccalilli was showered with praise - and a runner-up prize in the Best Product Awards.

Scotland’s Speciality Food Show has run for eight years and is now Scotland’s largest trade sourcing event for the speciality food market, attracting over 1,000 trade buyers from department stores, farm shops, delis, food halls, restaurants and hotels right across the UK. The three-day show, held at Glasgow's SECC, ran from 18 to 20 January. Lerwick Brewery and Shetlandeli attended together to wave the flag for Shetland produce, joining more than 130 companies exhibiting all types of speciality food including gift food, bakery, cheese, cooked and cured meats, chutneys, preserves, oil and vinegars, herbs and spices, confectionery, tea and coffee, beers and spirits.

After experiencing sales success in Shetland, we were keen to gauge interest from buyers outside of Shetland - and were thrilled to get the runner-up prize in the show's awards.

Jill Franklin says: "Our special piccalilli recipe has been acclaimed across Shetland and the UK but, as a first-time attender to the Show, we never expected to receive this accolade. It's fantastic recognition for our product. The judges praised the quality of the product, its taste and the product's branding which has designed to be contemporary and eye-catching on the shelves. It's a great endorsement for us and gives us a fantastic platform to start conversations with retail buyers outside of Shetland. Winning our first award at our first show is quite something."
