What’s it named after?
Our Kishie Carrot & Cardamom Relish is named after the handmade basket which Shetlanders used for hundreds of years to carry peat home on their backs. It was also used to transport other things like fish, groceries, and even small children! They were traditionally made using Shetland oat straw and soft rush. These multi-purpose baskets were carried on the back and tied using a ‘fettel’, a strap which the carrier slung over their front, leaving their hands free.
