Shetlandeli was founded in 2015 by Jill Franklin. She approached COPE Ltd in 2017 to see if we’d like to work collaboratively. We decided we loved the company so much we bought it!
The handmade element fitted into our kitchen operation seamlessly.
We have introduced a couple of new chutneys to the range since then and are very proud to have won a few Great Taste Awards along the way. We are a small, dedicated team, working with adults with learning disabilities, producing delicious high-quality products on a daily basis.
A batch of our chutney takes a couple of days to prepare, cook, jar, cool and label. Then the jars will sit maturing on a shelf until just ready to be delivered to our stockists.
Our team come from a myriad of different backgrounds but they all understand the social purpose that underpins everything we do at COPE. We call this ‘the COPE factor’; we can teach people how to make chutney, but we also look for that special someone who can offer great, positive role modelling and a passion for making a difference to someone’s life.
